What Qualifies Gord for City Council?
Gord grew up in Fort St. John and raised his own children here.  He has a Love for our Community and always makes it very clear that he CHOOSES to live in this community saying, "it's where I WANT to live!"  Gord is excited about our future, and wants to help make this community a great place to live, work, and play.

Gord is completing his third term as a City Councillor.  As a leader in our community, he brings practical
experience and knowledge to his role on City Council.  Through his full-time and volunteer work, he has shown vision and passion, and a commitment to purposeful and strategic planning.  He has proven his leadership skills and has worked effectively as an active member of many leadership teams.  Gord has demonstrated his understanding of policy governance, displayed his administrative abilities, and continually exhibits strength and determination in all that he does.

Having served for 6 years on the Board of Education and 7 years on City Council, one thing Gord understands very well, is that when you depend on public dollars, you must
be extremely good stewards of the money with which you have been entrusted and "spend within your means".  You can trust Gord to budget wisely, plan thoroughly, spend carefully, and work strategically to do all you can with what you have.  It is amazing what a little ingenuity, creativity, flexibility, and cooperation can do to maximize value while staying within the prescribed boundaries and providing services efficiently and effectively.

Gord enjoys collaborating with others and has learned the importance of listening to people with understanding, as they share their passion and their perspective.  As they say, "people don't care how much you know until they know how much you care."
