May 6, 2012 -  It is so exciting to see Fort St. John becoming more culturally diverse.  At this year's COMMUNITY CULTURAL CELEBRATION we enjoyed an afternoon of fabulous food, delightful dance, and colorful costumes!  We were reminded that indeed diversity does make us grow and enriches our lives.
April 18-20, 2012 - It was my privilege to represent the City of Fort St. John at the 2012 Canadian Sport Tourism Alliance Sport Events Congress in Richmond. It was another wonderful opportunity to brag about our awesome community and our amazing sports facilities!  And, as it turned out,  we also used the time to schmooze with our Trade Show neighbours as we were located right beside our wonderful WestJet friends.
April 14, 2012 - Sharon and I dressed up for a fabulous evening at the 4th Annual Firefighter’s Ball
in support of the British Columbia Professional Fire Fighters Burn Fund.  We enjoyed some great food and wonderful conversations, along with an exciting Live Auction!  What's not to like?!  Thank you Fort St. John, for being such a supportive and generous community!
April 14, 2012 - I had an excellent time representing the City of Fort St. John at the Trade Show this weekend!  What a great opportunity to meet so many of you, and have some wonderful conversations about living, working, and playing in this awesome community!  I appreciated so much the comments and questions you had about the future of the city, and was overwhelmed by the creative and constructive ideas you shared to make FSJ an even better place to be!  . . . and yes, I ate way too many mini-donuts!

April 10, 2012 - On Tuesday afternoon, we attended the official announcement and lighting of the digital clock that will countdown the days until the hospital is officially open.  I am so excited about this new facility and the positive impact it will have on our community!  As of Tuesday, the clock read 73 days, which means the hospital is set to open June 21st.


April 7, 2012 - Once again, we had an opportunity to show off our magnificent sports facilities as our own New Totem Archery Club hosted the 2012 Canadian 3D Indoor Archery Championship, welcoming archers from all across Canada.  As I attended the Opening Ceremonies and had a chance to talk with several visitors, I was reminded of how fortunate we are to have this great facility.

March 21, 2012 - It was definitely a privilege and an honour to meet Rick Hansen while he was here in Fort St. John as part of the 25th anniversary of his Man in Motion World Tour.  We are so thankful that he made the effort to come "home" and spend some time with us.  He is truly a Canadian hero!  It was a busy day for Rick as he spoke to hundreds of students at the North Peace Arena, followed by a visit to the Child Development Centre, then spoke to the Fort St. John and District Chamber of Commerce over lunch, finally finishing his day in the Energetic City with the Community Celebration at the Pomeroy Hotel. 
Thank you, Rick, for inspiring us all to make a difference!

Municipal Government Day

The third annual Municipal Government Day was held on Wednesday, May 30, 2012 from 4:00pm – 8:00pm at Centennial Park, showcasing the City of Fort St. John's operations, Public Works Day, Arbour Day, and more!  Thank you to all the staff, volunteers, and sponsors for making this event such a huge success!  And thank you to each of you who came down to the park and participated in the celebration!
